About Wiki of Things
Wiki of Things is an independent decoder for the devices in your home. Every status light, beep pattern, blinking router LED, and cryptic error code means something specific, and the answer usually exists somewhere in a 90-page PDF manual or a buried support article. We turn that into plain English you can read in two minutes.
Who Runs This Site
Wiki of Things is run by Kanika Modi, a solo independent publisher. It is not owned, operated, or funded by any device manufacturer. No manufacturer reviews our pages before publication, and none can pay to appear in (or disappear from) our guides.
Who Is Kanika Modi
Kanika Modi is the researcher, writer, and verifier behind every page on this site. Her background is in technical SEO and content quality: years spent auditing how information ranks online, and how often the pages that win the click have the weakest sourcing behind them.
Wiki of Things is her answer to that problem. She does the verification work personally: pulling the manufacturer’s current support documentation for every device covered, checking each claim against what the manual actually says, splitting answers by model where the behavior differs, and stamping every page with the date it was last checked. Where a manufacturer has not documented a behavior, she marks it as undocumented rather than filling the gap with guesswork.
Suggestions, corrections, and requests for new decoders go through the contact page.
How Our Guides Are Made
Every guide on this site starts with the manufacturer’s own documentation: official support articles, published manuals, and specification sheets. When manufacturers document the same light pattern differently across models, we split the answer by model instead of blending them into a vague average, because a red light on one camera can mean something completely different on another.
Each page shows the date it was last verified against those sources, and links to them so you can check our work. Where a behavior is not documented by the manufacturer, we say so rather than guessing. See the full editorial and verification policy.
How the Site Is Funded
Wiki of Things is reader-supported. Some pages may carry affiliate links (for example, to recommended battery types), which earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never determine what we recommend, and safety guidance is never monetized. Details are in our privacy policy and affiliate disclosure.
